Spire Global is seeking a Full-Stack Weather Software Engineer to design and deploy customer-facing weather applications that leverage the company's proprietary satellite data and AI-powered forecasts. You'll own the complete technology stack—from React UI to AWS infrastructure—building mission-critical products for energy trading, utilities, agriculture, and other industries that depend on real-time weather insights.
Job Description
Spire Global runs the world's largest multi-purpose satellite constellation, streaming real-time weather and Earth-observation data. The Weather division fuses AI and NWP forecasts — initialized with Spire's proprietary observational data — to build mission-critical products for customers across energy trading, utilities, agriculture, and other industries.
This role sits at the intersection of weather science, geophysical sensing, cloud engineering, and modern AI tooling. You will work with weather model output to build and deploy customer products and front-end systems.
Key responsibilities: Design and build customer-facing applications presenting weather data via interactive maps, time-series views, comparisons, and alerts; own the full vertical slice from React UI down to AWS infrastructure; build and maintain CRUD endpoints for user data, saved views, and alert configurations; implement authentication and authorization.
Basic: 5+ years building production software with strong front-end track record; experience with JavaScript, React, Python services and REST APIs; experience with relational databases and schema design; fluency with agentic coding tools (Claude Code, Codex).
Preferred: Knowledge of weather models — both NWP (GFS, ECMWF, HRRR, WRF) and modern AI forecasters (GraphCast, Pangu-Weather, FourCastNet, AIFS); familiarity with GRIB2, NetCDF, Zarr, and the Pangeo ecosystem (xarray, Dask).
Hybrid: minimum 3 days/week in office. Salary range: $130,500–$171,000 USD.
