Job Description
NWS Meteorologist position under Direct Hire Authority for the Eastern US pool. Duties include integrating forecast weather, water, and climate hazards with associated societal risks to produce and communicate life-saving impact-based warnings, advisories, outlooks, and general forecasts. Provides Impact Based Decision Support Services (IDSS) including tailored products, specialized notifications, remote briefings, and on-site deployments to core partners in public safety. Collects, assesses, and integrates environmental data to forecast at global, synoptic, and meso-scales. Collaborates with WFO/NCEP colleagues to improve operational functions.
Developmental levels GS-05/07/09 leading to Full Performance Level GS-12. Rotating shift work required. U.S. citizenship required.
