Overview
As an Operational Forecaster with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Weather Service, you will develop and communicate impact-based weather, water, and climate hazard warnings and forecasts across multiple scales to protect public safety. This role involves analyzing environmental data, providing specialized decision support services to emergency management and public safety partners, and supporting 24/7 operational weather forecasting across 21 locations nationwide.
Job Description
Integrate forecast weather, water, and climate hazards with associated societal risks to produce and communicate life-saving impact-based warnings, advisories, outlooks and general forecasts. Provide Impact Based Decision Support Services (IDSS) including tailored products, specialized notifications, remote briefings, and on-site deployments to core partners in public safety. Collect, assess, analyze, and integrate environmental data to provide forecasts at global, synoptic, and meso-scale levels. Support WFO/NCEP operational functions. GS-05/07/09 developmental to GS-12 FPL. Rotating shift, 24/7 operations. Duties described at GS-09 level.
