Job Description
The Cooperative Institute for Severe and High-Impact Weather Research and Operations (CIWRO) at The University of Oklahoma seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to develop probabilistic impact-based flash flood products within the Flooded Locations and Simulated Hydrographs (FLASH) system, in collaboration with NOAA's National Severe Storms Laboratory (NSSL). Responsibilities: Lead development of new probabilistic impact-based flash flood products to predict flash flood severity; design, implement, and validate probabilistic impact-based products against flash flood report databases; work with an interdisciplinary team to experimentally implement these products within the FLASH system; present results at meetings and professional conferences; support reports and peer-reviewed publications. Required: Ph.D. in Hydrology, Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or a related field; knowledge of probabilistic information applied to hydrologic modeling; proficiency in high-level programming languages; strong ability to research and independently resolve unfamiliar problems; excellent written communication.
